About the Washougal Schools Foundations
Serving A Community In Need
The Washougal School District serves 2,590 students in seven schools in rural Southwest Washington. Our community has many families in need. The mean average for all schools with students receiving free or reduced fee lunches is 36 percent. The Hathaway Elementary School serves 409 students and has 57 percent of the students receiving free or reduced fee lunches. Washougal High School, serving 699 students has 15 percent of the students receiving free or reduced lunches. The other five schools fall within the range.
Foundation Priorities
The Foundation recognizes that there are many areas of need in our community today, and not enough financial resources to go around. The Foundation believes that wise investment in the education of our students will help prepare them to constructively participate in the improvement of our community.
The Foundation has established these criteria for grant selection and volunteer support services:
- Does the request provide an unmet educational need to our students?
- Does the request include innovative ideas, which enrich the quality of our student's educational experience?
- Does the request improve our teacher's ability to educate?
- Does the request maximize the benefits of expended funds?
- Will it provide a long-term benefit to the educational system or our community?
